La-Roche-sur-Yon

La-Roche-sur-Yon

La-Roche-sur-Yon is only 40 km from your hotel in Les Herbiers Puy du Fou.

Spending a day in La Roche-sur-Yon is guaranteed to be a great time with family or friends! There's no shortage of activities, and the city is easy to navigate, taking you from one point to another using public transportation.

Shopping lovers? Head to Flâneries!

Les Flâneries is the largest shopping center in Vendée . More than 50 shops are gathered in this immense space dedicated to window shopping. To accommodate all these wonderful people, the shopping arcade has been designed to be long with sloping facades. French or international brands, ready-to-wear or decoration stores, there is something for everyone:

  • Promod,
  • H&M,
  • Camaïeu,
  • Mango,
  • Aqualia, etc.

And like any self-respecting gallery, you will find numerous restaurants and a cinema nearby.

Go to the Machines of Place Napoléon

Does this ring a bell? It's not very surprising! The Machines de la Place Napoléon were created in 2013 by François De la Rozière, to whom we also owe the famous Machines de Nantes . Around ten of them, all born from his imagination, are now quietly placed in the city center of La Roche-sur-Yon.

Perch, dromedary and even crocodile, all are accessible free of charge and bathe, dive and come to life before the eyes of visitors.

The Vendée Stud Farm

A 4-hectare estate, a haven of peace, frozen in time, a beautiful architectural building and of course the human-horse relationship at the heart of everything: this is what awaits you at the La-Roche-sur-Yon stud farm.

The site is magnificent and regularly hosts equestrian shows and tours to highlight the significance of this heritage site. It has nothing to envy of the Cadre Noir in Saumur and offers a beautiful, timeless stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The space of records in Aubigny

We're cheating a little, because this place is located in the town of Aubigny, south of La Roche-sur-Yon, but it's still worth a visit. Indeed, you'll find the Museum of Records there.

In the 80s and 90s, the small town aimed to become the capital of records and many slightly absurd creations followed, all grouped together in a museum now, like a 2 m spoon.

Enough to make you marvel at the grandiloquence of these objects!

Patrick Gelenqser's Chocolate Museum

Did you know? Patrick Gelenqser is one of the best master chocolatiers in France . To showcase this product, he created a museum dedicated entirely to chocolate near his shop. From manufacturing and harvesting to recipe and packaging, the visit will make your mouth water as you explore six distinct worlds .

Leave with your arms full of treats and a full stomach: a tasting awaits you at the end of the tour!
